Jeep Waves is Out of the Office

Just wanted to let all our followers and potential customers know that we will be away from the office for about a week from 05.26.15 – 06.02.15. During this time we’ll be out on Safari, driving off road, enjoying nature…which means we won’t be shipping out any decals or t-shirts. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we’ll be happy to ship out any orders received ASAP upon return to civilization!

Memorial Day 2015

We are breaking from tradition this year at Jeepwaves.com. Much of the team is in South Africa at the moment and we wanted to share a remembrance we came across the other day in Cape Town.

The commemorative cross comes from the 1st South African Brigade in remembrance of those “officers and men who fell in action” at the Battle of the Somme – 1916 in WWI. The cross is located at the Castle of Good Hope in Cape Town which highlights quite a bit of South African military history and their longtime alliance with the US military throughout WWI and WWII.

Being away from home on Memorial Day makes it all that much more important for us to quietly reflect on the sacrifices made by those protecting our freedoms. Jeepwaves.com wants to thank all those who have served, past and present, and especially those who didn’t make it home.

Instead of going out to spend money on a sale today, please consider a gift to your favorite Veteran’s Fund or volunteering at your local Veterans Hospital or Home.

Jeep Wave Day 2015

Jeep_Wave_Day_2015

May 7th is National Jeep Wave Day and that’s just around the corner! Why May 7th you ask?

  • 5 – Most people #JeepWave with their hands and most people have five fingers on each hand, so we picked May, being the fifth month of the year.
  • 7 – Jeep is iconic for its front headlights and grille, which has 7 slots in it, so we chose the 7th day of May.
  • 5 fingers waving at the 7 slot grille. = 5/7 each year! Now you know!

Last year, through social media, Jeep events, and personal interactions, we estimate that the word about Jeep Wave Day reached just over 10,000 people. The year before, we reached more than 6,000 people. So, we’re being ambitious and shooting to reach more than 12,000 this year. But, we’ll need everyone’s help, especially with less than a week left until Jeep Wave Day!

Please share with your social media connects on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+ and anything else we haven’t caught up with yet! Sharing pictures is great, linking people to this post, and #Hashtags always spread awareness #JeepWaveDay2015

Thanks to all the loyal followers and those who are always throwing out the Jeep Wave!

LeMay Car Museum

We spent some time up in the Pacific Northwest in Tacoma last week and visited the LeMay Museum: America’s Car Museum. I had personally not been acquainted with the LeMay museum or the family story prior to the visit and needless to say, I was impressed with the scope and depth of the collection.

LeMay, who earned his fortune running a successful waste management company in Tacoma, WA, amassed a collection of approximately 3,500 cars. While only about 350 cars are displayed at the 4 story museum, the collection covers nearly all of the 20th century and virtually every American car make…including Jeep.

Jeep Willys

There was one, lonely Jeep Willy’s on display in immaculate condition. The Jeep story was included in a special placard below the exhibit and referenced the Jeep’s unique tie to American Armed Forces, particularly during WWII. The picture of President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Churchill in a Jeep highlights the history and importance well. Very cool to see all the cars, but especially neat to see the Jeep featured in such a great collection of classic American vehicles. Jeep Wave!

Memorial Day 2014

We simply want to say thank you to all those who have served and perished protecting the freedoms we hold dear in the USA. Please have a reflective and appreciative Memorial Day and be sure to thank a service member for their sacrifice and the sacrifice of those who fought and did not return. Instead of succumbing to discounts, deals, and the like today, consider donating to the Wounded Warrior Project.

As is tradition here at Jeepwaves.com…a solemn “Jeep Wave” as tribute from a superhero to the REAL Heroes.
