Fiji Jeepin'

In Fiji for the next couple weeks…so somebody else is gonna have to Jeep Wave in Colorado while we’re gone.  In between relaxing and taking in the sights, came across this little Jeep parked in the lot near the marina.  It needs a Jeep Wave sticker, but otherwise, very cool!  Lots of Hilux’s and old model Land Cruisers with intake snorkels here.  We can imagine that when the Typhoon season comes around, there’s a lot of water fording to do.

Anybody know of a Jeep club in Fiji?  How bout the general South Pacific?  More pics to come!

Remembering – Memorial Day

A Jeep Wave to remember those who died while serving to protect the USA.  We hope this day is less about the bbq’s, the beach, and the day off of work and more about remembering and reflecting about how and why we are able to enjoy what we have in this country.  In large part, due to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We posted last week about a new initiative going on at jeepwaves.com.  We are donating 10% of all purchases made to the Wounded Warriors Fund.  We believe this is a great cause and something all of us can get behind.  While a day like Memorial Day is well needed, supporting wounded vets is something we can do everyday, not just the last day in May.  Don’t make this a reason to buy a decal or a shirt today, because that’s not what today is about.  But, hopefully this philanthropy is something we can take pride in when making future purchases.

One last thing.  A tribute from last year from a super hero to the real super heroes.

Wounded Warrior Fund

With the recent success of Jeep Wave Day, we wanted to help spread the word about another great project, the Wounded Warrior Fund. As of May 2012, all purchases made through our eBay auction pages, will include a donation made by jeepwaves.com to the Wounded Warrior Fund (10% of the total purchase amount).

We think this is a great project and something that everyone can get behind, regardless of your politics or other beliefs.  Hopefully, you all agree, because we’re doing it anyway.  So, head on over to our eBay pages and get yourself a decal or shirt to support the Jeep Wave and support our troops in the process. Thanks!

Jeep: The Easiest Way Down

It’s winter time in the Colorado Rockies and that means our  Jeeps turn into vehicles of survival rather than just fun.  Yeah, the hard top has to go back on the wrangler, but it’s a battle against the elements.  Blizzards, icy roads, below freezing temps, yeah, whatever.   Never had a problem in the Jeep when other cars are sitting on the side of the road, spun out, broken down, unable to compete.

It also means that ski season is in full effect up here.  Being avid skiers, we snapped this shot at our favorite small resort up here – Araphaoe Basin.  You can officially put them on your “nice list” for X-mas this year since they have s ski run named “Wrangler.”  Not only does it pay tribute to the greatest vehicle on earth, but it appropriate lists it as a green run, or, “The Easiest Way Down.”

“The Easiest Way Down,” couldn’t have said it better ourselves!  Props to A-Basin for the naming and safe driving to all our fans out there this Holiday Season.  If you need some good gift giving ideas, head on over to our Products Page and be on the look out for some discounts in the coming week!

Kite Lake Jaunt

Went out this past weekend here in Colorado to enjoy what might be one final hike before the snow sets in and stays in till next June.  We usually take the Wrangler out for any serious off roading, but finally got the Grand Cherokee off pavement this year (yeah ,yeah, we know) and drove up to Kite Lake / the trail-head for Mt. Democrat, one of Colorado’s 14ers.  Kite Lake sits at around 12,300ft, easily accessible by most vehicles with decent clearance.  That said, mashing the gas and whipping up the road was fun, especially watching the two other vehicles we saw putter around the holes and mud puddles.

So, no serious off roading to speak of, but it reminded us that Jeeps might not be the reason you’re going somewhere, but they’re damn good at getting you where you wanna go…and now some pics of the surrounding area.
